Homes sales are up more than 30 percent from a year ago and prices have increased by more than 15 percent as demand continues to soar and inventory is low, according to the latest report from Redfin

The Seattle-based brokerage said the median home price across 400 U.S. metro areas reached $318.750 for the four-week period ended January 17. New listings for sale were down 10 percent from the same period the year before — illusrtating the shortage of inventory that is helping to drive home prices higher.
